and Eightfold Path

Are you curious about Buddhism?

If you’re looking for a simple, easy-to-understanding and heart felt way to explore the Buddha Dharma then this introductory program is for you.

This 15 week journey will introduce you to the Buddha, his teachings (the Dharma) and how to apply those teachings in your life so that you can find true authentic happiness.

However we’ve come to know about Buddhism we probably have a faint idea that the Buddhist teachings will lead an individual to find happiness via a Path or Way. The Buddha said that it was an ancient path that he had found. A timeless path. One, that if traveled will lead you to true and authentic happiness. Discover that path for yourself…

Dāna for the Dharma

What is Dana? Dana means giving or generosity. Teachers give the Dharma and if you feel moved and compelled then you give back to help support them giving the dharma more fully and to more people.

Each time one receives teachings, it’s an opportunity to consciously practice generosity (which is one of the 6 Paramitas in the Buddhist tradition).

Giving money and other means of support expresses gratitude and support to the teacher and helps to ensure that these teachings continue.

Each person receiving Dharma teachings determines the kind and amount of Dāna according to one’s heart and one’s financial means.

When deciding how much to offer, one should think about what these teachings mean to you and try to give accordingly.

Required Text For the Awaken Course

Awaken Book

To help us journey through the Dharma we will be using the book entitled Awaken: The Buddha’s Eightfold Path to True & Lasting Happiness. It’s available on Amazon and I’ve also shared it fully here on the site. The Four Noble Truths and The Eightfold Path

It would be easier to follow along via the book though and your purchase of the book would help support your teacher and the Dharma.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Awaken Course unfold?
The Awaken Course is a self-paced program that is designed to help you dive deeper into the dharma and transform your life.

Is it just reading along with the book?
Each module follows the book. Every module has a reading piece and there are also videos and some insight questions at the end of each module to help make this experience more integrated and embodied in your life. Our goal is to help you awaken so we want to be able to provide you with a rich and rewarding experience.

Will someone help me if I have questions about a topic?
Zen Master e or one of his senior student will be able to see your submissions at the end of each module. They will be available to help clarify any questions that may arise.

Should I be meditating as well?
For sure! In Zen we talk about the threefold training of Sila, Samadhi and Prajna.

Sila: Precepts, Morality, Ethics/Skillful/Meaningful Behaviour (Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood)
Samadhi: Equanimity, Calmness, Contentment, Wholeness, A Bringing back Together, Unification, One-Pointedness, Absorption, Steadiness of Mind, Settled Mind, Concentrated Mind, Undistracted (Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, Right Samadhi)
Prajna: Insight, Understanding, Emptiness, Interdependence, Interbeing (Right View, Right Intention/Thinking)

How long will I be able to access the course?
You will have lifetime access to the program. As long as this site is here so will the course. This is why your support is so appreciated!

How much should I pay for the Awaken Course?
We understand that the way of Dana is new for a lot of people. If you have the means and want to offer a lot that’s great! Your extra contribution will help support the site and the teachers and help us gift the dharma to a lot of people. If you can only offer a little that’s great too! The Dharma is our gift. Anything you can offer is appreciated. We recommend looking at a baseline of $20 per module. So that would be $300 for the Awaken Course.

What if I want to give more Dana at the end of the Awaken course?
That’s great! We really appreciate any and all support that you can give to help us continue to be able to offer the Dharma and help to train future teachers and open future dharma centres. There will be a chance to offer donations at the end of the course.
